Do you know what your most precious asset is?

It’s not your house. It’s not your car. It’s not your business. And its not money either.

Do you know what it is?

It is your time. Your time is the most valuable and precious asset you have. If you lose your house, car or business, you can make these back. Once your time is gone it’s gone.

Loads of people who were millionaires lost all their fortune and then became millionaires again. Peter Jones from Dragons Den and American Inventor who was a millionaire – but then got bankrupt. However he turned it all around and is now worth an estimated £475 million.

Have you ever been to a boring lecture that you never received any value from or just plain wasted your time watching a rerun of a TV show? The time you invested in any of those tasks you are not going to get back, it is gone forever.

Its like the quote from the movie Blade Runner by Rutger Hauer’s character “All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.” This quote is actually said after Hauer’s character saves Harrison Ford’s character from falling. I don’t want to spoil the movie for you but the quote is saying In the end all memories and everything get lost in time.

leave your legacy

Don’t just waste your time doing unproductive things or things that don’t matter. If you don’t know how to manage your time or want to become more productive then there are plenty of articles on this blog to help you out.

Your Time Is Very Limited

You might think I have all the time in the world. You might be thinking to yourself that right now I am only young and I have the rest of my life ahead of me to actually do all the things that I want, that’s why I’m going to relax or chill now.

But that is the wrong way to think. You can die at any time. Check out this list of celebrities who died under 30. But death doesn’t just come to celebrities it hits everyone. Every soul shall taste death.

Now I don’t mean to be pessimistic about life. You have to make sure you leave an impact on the world. Whether that is helping people out in need and having your own foundation like actor Paul Walker among many others. Or even creating/inventing your own products/services that help solve people’s problems like Thomas Edison, Steve Jobs or millions of other entrepreneurs in the world. or you can even build your own business empire like Richard Branson.

It doesn’t have to be on a big scale either, make sure you do good with other people, help them out in times of need and leave your legacy.

I think co-founder of Apple, Steve Jobs explains my point better with this quote:

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”

What Steve is saying in this quote is don’t waste your time working for another person building their dream. Work for yourself, build your own dream.

Don’t just go through the motions of life and just merely exist or survive. You don’t just want to exist, you want to go ahead and conquer.

Leave Your Legacy

On your death bed in your final moments, are you going to be thinking about all the TV shows or movies that you missed out on. “Damn, I should have watched Game of Thrones” or “I should have been a Belieber and listened to Justin Bieber more”.

I highly doubt anyone is going to have those kind of thoughts or regrets on their deathbed. They will more likely be thinking of what they are going to leave behind. Or what their legacy is or what they are passing onto the next generation.

Or they might even think about all the time they wasted and how they should have actually done something with that time instead of wasting it.

Do something with your time. Open that business that you have always wanted to. Start a charitable foundation. Leave an impact on the world. Leave your legacy.
